Our Story

The MonsterHorn Story

Music has been part of my life since before I could reach the frets. I begged for my first guitar at sixteen, but it was the drums that captured me for good. Still, one thing always gnawed at me: why did so many mixes make drums sound weak? That frustration drove me to start recording on a humble Yamaha MT-100 II four-track, chasing ways to make rhythm hit as hard on tape as it did in the room.

College opened the floodgates. I suddenly had full reign over a 48-track reel-to-reel, a towering wall of outboard gear, two Pro Tools rigs, and a massive SSL console. It was there I learned how to carve out drum tones that shook, and how to sculpt tracks with punch, clarity, and intent.

While in college, I also played in a number of bands that kept me rooted in studios, even when I wasn’t behind the board. After graduation, I brought that passion into teaching—working with the Boys and Girls Club of America to help high school students explore recording. We had MOTU interfaces, a strong mic locker, and my first hands-on run with an ADAT system. That time taught me as much as I taught the students: how to adapt, how to guide others toward their own sound, and how powerful a studio can be as a space for creativity.

MonsterHorn grew out of those roots—turning raw recordings into polished songs without sanding off the soul. I help artists take chaos and focus it into something powerful, always listening closely to what they hear in their heads. Every step is built on communication and trust, because the best sound comes when the artist and engineer move as one.
